Re: Show me your SCOPES !

I don't have shots of just the scopes but here is a list

4 each Bausch & Loumb Elite 4000 6 x 24 on 3 Savages and a Colt AR flat top

Springfield 6 x 20 "Government Model" on a Savage Mod 12

Burris 3 x 9 pistol scope on my Thompson Center Contender

Nightforce 12 x 42 on my long range competition rifle. I shoot this at up to 1,000 yards. I've got 4 different caliber barrels to fit this rifle. This scope is set using 20 MOA tapered rings.

March 40 on my BR rifle. This scope type is very new and is built one by one by hand by a single technician.

3 red dot sights on a couple of 22 pistols and a 10/22.

I've got these pictures handy.

You're talking about the Pachmayr grip on the AR? That's a Pachmayr on the Thompson too. I've had it for a while and don't remember what I paid but it is a major increase in ease while shooting. It isn't very expensive and is worthwhile.

The ones on the green stocked rifle are made by a group called Kelblys. The other mounts I bought through Bill Shehane of long range shooting fame. Both sets are aluminum and are VERY light. Both sets are 30 mm and can be had in the $85-$95 range. 25 mm rings with 1/2 the number of fasteners can be had for light recoiling rifles for around $65-$70.

Bushnell Elite 4200
Weaver T-36<<wonderful target scope great bang for buck

I have a Bushnell 6500 on order

and i have a batch of other take-off scopes i rarely put on and shoot with

handfull of different Reflex sights, red dots and variables

What do you have that T-36 on?

Your Bushnell Elete is the same scope as my Bausch & Loumbs, just a bit newer. Excellent scope for the money, that's why I have 4 of them though when I got those they could be had for around $250 from SWFA.

Nightforce may be the best scope in the world regardless of price. Great optics, VERY durable and they hold point of aim despite getting knocked around. You will find them to be very heavily represented in the military and anywhere a long distance competition is going on.

I agree with you, ditch the cheap scopes, who needs to go through all the trouble to get to the point where you are shooting the shot, whether in competition or a hunt, only to put yourself at the mercy of an unreliable POS?

I've run or helped run hundreds of rifle matches. In spring 2007, three new guys showed at a match, two of whom had bought brand new bolt action FN 308s, with which they were going to show us how to do it. Before starting the 1st relay, I always have a sight in period because there is always someone who doesn't know what zip code he is shooting into. There are a few tricks to make this easy if someone is way off. One of the new FN guys couldn't get his scope on even with the tricks. I went to look at his scope and found he had put a $75 BSA scope on his $1,700 FN. When all else failed, we went down range and put up a 4 foot square piece of cardboard at 100 yards and boresighted on the center of that. That scope was shifting point of aim by over 1-1/2 FEET at every shot. I came to understand that BSA scopes are designed and manufactured by PETA and function exactly as desired. Using a cheap scope on a good or better rifle is like putting a Tohatsu 25 hp outboard on a 30 foot Grady White, you've destroyed the function.

Not very much I'm afraid. I know they are Austrian, are very expensive and suspect that they are quite good.

Here is a picture of my scoped tack driver... 1/4" MOA groups using hand loaded 60 Grain Hornady V-MAXBullet over 25.0grains of Hodgdon Varget in Remington Nickel Brass with a CCI400 Small Rifle Primer.

Shot target seated at bench off bi-pod, 10 rounds at 200 yards in under 30 seconds with 10+ MPH cross wind (TA, no jams).

Thanks Tom, I don't have a lot of experience with different scopes, so I'm not sure how to compare, but the view is extremely clear, even at night(with some moon light) and being 10X, it really brings things in close

That looks to be a good shooter. I have the same trigger on mine along with a lot of the other stuff. I get my best results using 69 grain bullets and also Varget powder. I use Win 748 for lighter bullets. Several thousand rounds through this one with every sort of ammo on earth, not the 1st jam.

How big is the pictured target?

I'm right impressed with that 10/22. What are the details on that, especially the barrel?

It is Tactical Solutions 16.5" fluted/threaded barrel, YHM Mite suppressor, Revival Yukon brown stock, stock receiver with mostly Volquartsen guts.
